City of Spokane/ HAS Hiring Event

On May 17, 2018 HireAbility Spokane (HAS) paired up with the city of Spokane for a large hiring event, at Spokane’s City Hall. Seven individuals with developmental disabilities were given the opportunity to interview with a panel of select hiring managers and HR managers representing a wide variety of departments.

These managers were looking to find qualified candidates for possible future openings in their departments.

Among those interviewed was Clayton Jacks. Clayton was hoping to make a great impression on the managers as well as to sharpen his interview skills.

“I think my interview went very well. Everyone was really nice and they even critiqued me at the end.I now have some things that I can improve on, which I’m really thankful for,” said Clayton.

“I was a little nervous especially since I wasn’t sure which job they may be considering me for, but I think a did an 8 out of 10. I really felt confident,” he added.

We are happy to announce that Clayton, in addition to two other individuals from the group were hired by the city of Spokane Parks and Recreation department! They are all currently working in temporary-seasonal positions doing various tasks in Riverfront Park for the summer.

Overall, the event was a great success. All of the individuals interviewed came away with skills to work on, and three individuals found employment through the city. Way to go guys!
